Changing the World, One App at a Time: GoPostal

July 14, 2009

GoPostal is a powerful, easy to use application that will allow you to create and mail a physical, personalized postcard to any friend, relative, or associate directly from your iPhone. You simply take a photo (or choose one from your library), add a customized message, and select a recipient from your address book. Your postcard will then be delivered via (U.S.) Mail.

I for one miss a good old fashioned letter, or receiving a postcard for that matter. Its an art that has been lost in the accelerated pace of modern life, and the dumbing down and lazy nature of todays generation. But GoPostal claws back in hope. Ok, it does not possess the personal touch of a handwritten postcard, but it makes up for this in the selection of image. So all those glorious views of mountain ranges and endless beaches, can now feature the smiling faces of those fortunate enough to be away.

“Send an MMS! Send an email!” – I hear you all cry.

Its not just about sending a picture message to nearest and dearest. Its bringing back the statement of a traditional channel using the latest technology to make it more relevant to a modern audience. GoPostal embraces personalisation and customisation in a quest to put us back in touch with our past. Hell, the exciting thing is it has the potential to breathe new life into a relatively dated (and almost dead) form of communication.

Nice post. That was very informative!! I hadn’t heard all of that before, so I don’t really know what to say lol. Anyway, I like your site a lot. I’ve been skimming around, and I like what I see. Nice layout too. 😉
