QR – Quite Ready?

QR Codes popped their strange pixelated heads over the fence towards the close of 2008, with Pepsi the most recognisable of the brands utilising the technology. But is it ready for the mainstream?

Its very different from a lot of the technology that has been banded around in recent years, but what for its success? Well its certainly too early to gauge the success of any current campaigns, but we all have an opinion…

I personally believe its a little too early for the technology. Besides there are only a handful of handsets with readers built in as standard, with many such as Beetagg widely available for download. But can people be bothered with the hassle?

I think with fine tuning and tweaking, it will become a resounding success. Until then however, brands need not rush into employing what looks like the latest and greatest technology. After all, it wasnt too long ago that certain people were writing off SMS advertising, but that looks like it could continue to grow in 2009.
